Solar Stocks - A Play on Alternative Energy
Trading Solar Stocks is a way to get in on an alternative energy play for your portfolio. Because this is a hot (pun intended) and possibly upcoming field, keeping up with current and future news and regulations that may effect these stocks is a must.
You'll notice that when Oil prices are moving higher, alternative energy stocks usually get more attention and start moving higher as well.
This can have the opposite effect as well. When Oil prices move lower, Solar stocks usually get less attention and move lower as well.
It's really the opposite of what should be happening, but that's how our society is. After all, wouldn't it be better to spend time and money on an alternative energy source when the costs are low and be prepared for when they are really needed?
Instead, we wait until the last minute, until oil prices are skyrocketing, and then start paying attention to alternative energy.
Enough of my comments though. Take a look at a charts of FSLR and Crude Oil below for example. You'll see that when Crude Oil was up around $140.00 a barrell last June/July, FSLR was up close to its highs as well, close to $300 a share.

This is just one observation made on the Solar Stocks sector. Further analysis, whether fundamental, technical or both, should be done before making any final investment decisions.
